Our Company
West Workshop is an award-winning architecture and design studio founded in 2017 by architect Kurt West with offices in Washington, DC and
Raleigh, NC.
The firm’s design practice operates in the field of contemporary design across a
spectrum of scales, including commissioned architectural projects, interiors, custom furniture and public artworks.
Our Services
Architecture & Interior Design
Residential -
Working closely with homeowners, contractors and real estate developers, our
residential projects include individual homes, additions and renovations. We embrace innovative residential design, which includes modern modular homes and energy efficient home design. We work along with our
clients, consultants and contractors from start to finish of a project, covering design,
interiors, permitting and build-out to create beautiful and functional finished projects that meet our clients’ needs and budgets.
Commercial –
We offer full design services for our commercial clients - from conception to interiors
to equipment selections. With our particular approach, our experienced team of designers, consultants and contractors work together with an understanding of the
unique requirements of each client’s operation, and we execute projects accordingly.
Furniture & Object Design
We refer to these projects as “small architecture”. West Workshop designs and
creates one-of-a-kind furniture and objects specifically conceived and crafted for each project. This may include a custom coffee table for the home, light fixtures for a
restaurant or a built-in bookcase or storage for an office. We collaborate with a
trusted team of skilled artisans and craftsmen throughout the country, allowing us to employ an extensive range of materials, techniques and finishes for beautiful and
functional results.
Public Art
West Workshop pursues public art commissions as opportunities for architectural and tectonic experimentation. Common themes of this work explore the relationship between construction materials & methods, context and utility. You can see our
Public Art projects here.
